Antioxidant Acitvator of Nrf2 Suppresses Angiotensin and Oxidative Stress in the Heart.

Angiotensin is a strong activator of oxidative stress. A new study reports that a chemical compound that activates the Nrf2 system suppresses oxidative stress via angiotensin.

Pgc-1alpha serine570 phosphorylation and gcn5-mediated acetylation by angiotensin ii drive catalase downregulation and vascular hypertrophy.

Summary:Angiotensin is a hormone that contributes to conditions such as aging, insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease.  PGC-1a is a negative regulator of vascular hypertrophy and H2O2 elevations by upregulating catalase and reducing ROS.
