Pets, Exercise and the Elderly
In a study last year, elderly individuals were either paired with a rescue dog or a human companion for an outdoor trail fitness program. At the end of the study, researchers found that those that walked dogs improved their speed and confidence and their capability by 28% compared to the other group that improved by a mere 4% that walked with other humans.
